Happy New Year!

I turned 30 in December.  I'm not freaking out or anything, it's just a fact.
As we head to New Year's Day, I'm sitting here watching the Central Standard Time ABC celebration, we watched the EST ball drop half an hour ago.  This Prince cover band...
Why not?

This year, I've got specific goals.

*I'm starting Couch to 5k right away, the goal is to be in shape enough to run a 5k by this spring.
Maybe not quickly, but I'm going to run.

*Take a Spanish class.  I've been saying for a while that I was going to go back to school and it's time.  The best way to get in is to just pick something to take, something that would benefit me regardless.  The area we moved to last fall is 40% native Spanish-speaking, so Spanish is a helpful skill regardless.  So, to move on that, I need to get my financial paperwork in as soon as I can, get myself on the grant list.

*Take a knitting or sewing class.  This is just to satisfy my creative impulses.

One physical, one creative, one intellectual.
And maybe one more, to try to document my ups and downs a bit more consistently, even if it's just a few minutes of my day.

If you happen to have stumbled across this blog, I'm actually kind of surprised.  It's not really a public accounting and I've chosen to not have it pop up through searches and feeds, though I won't be posting super-personal stuff here (it is still online, after all), it's mostly a space where I can work through my progress on my goals somewhere.  An archive of progress or lack of it.  Stuff I did that day.

Jumping right in.

We did get the Kinect hooked up today, it was mostly a Christmas gift for Q from Santa, but hopefully I can also get into using some of the new fitness stuff for it.
I made THIS brownie recipe and THIS tuna noodle casserole (with broccoli and cheese added) for dinner and our family New Year's treat.
Q and Leeloo both enjoyed the music heartily.  Q bopped like a maniac and Leeloo tried to follow along, though as she's only 10 months she got frustrated by not being able to stand and dance like her sis.

Anyways, it's about time for the Chicago countdown.  I'm going to pour myself a celebratory toast drink and enjoy a minute or two since we let Q stay up.  She does need to get to bed soon, though.
