The birthday party, the workout, and the messy apartment.

Okay, January 2nd.
Yesterday we were at my parents for the traditional New Years' Dinner.  Pork and sauerkraut.  Mashed potatoes.  Simple fare, and it was a pretty quiet evening.  Mom still had a cold and was still worn out from the drive in from Ohio the day before, so she dozed off.  The guys watched college football.

New Years' Eve after the whole ball drop and etc, and getting an excited and exhausted 6 year old in bed, Curt and I watched The Dark Knight Rises.  He saw it in theaters, but I hadn't.  It was pretty good.  I'm not a huge fangirl of the trilogy, it's well done, but they're very heavy and dark and I know that's just part of Batman, Batman is a dark character with tragic origins and a vendetta...it's not Batman's fault that that's not where I go for a casual cinematic experience.

Today, though, is about starting the next things, recovering from the last.  Today, I'm picking up the apartment, trying to reclaim the living room from the flood of toys and things that have invaded.  Today, I'm encouraging leftovers for dinner.  Today, when Curt gets home from work, I want to be ready to head over to the clubhouse and start my Day 1 C25K treadmill workout...treadmill because today it is 25°F and dropping quickly.  It'll probably be in the teens by the time he gets home around 7 or 8.

Grandma wants to start planning the girls' birthday party (or parties) as soon as possible.  Q is 7 in February, Leeloo turns 1 in March.  I'm thinking that we'll split the difference, have the party in late February, and give the girls a combined party.  Q's okay with it.  Now to get her to stop requesting that ALL of her favorite things be her party theme lol.  I'd like a cohesive, singular theme to make it easier on me lol.  Is that too much to ask of a 6 year old?  It seems it must be.  Anyways.

Time to get back to picking up and putting things away.  Christmas ornaments should start coming down, have to start getting back to normal a little.  Normal may be too much to ask.
