First steps and next steps.

Today Leeloo took her first steps.
We were very excited.
It's exciting stuff.

She was excited, she was waving a sock at her dad.
She was bouncing up and down showing it off to us and then it happened.
A shuffle step and then several in quick succession.
We cheered.  She looked alarmed.
We laughed.  She almost cried.

But then she turned around and took another step.

My baby is so big.

We cheered her on again, she finally got excited and made her exclamation that sounds an awful lot like "I did it!"

Last night, she actually said it.  Clearly.  "I did it!"
This was after she had squealed out the gurgle that sounds sort of like it and we repeated it back to her a few times clearly.
So she bobbed and clapped and finally, clear as a bell, "I DID IT!"

So what now?
We wait and we encourage her.
We cheer her on.
We keep cheering.
We cheer til she's old.
We never stop.

Our babies are amazing, even as they aren't really babies anymore.
I hope we always find them amazing.
I know that sometimes they will hurt us, upset us, make us angry, but I hope deep in my heart that we still never stop cheering.
